Richard McKie

Chairman

Richard has spent 35 years in community and youth work.

His focus as GCCA Chairman is helping organise the spaces communities need to do those activities; transferable skills and contacts from local and national organisations are also proving useful.

Terry Halliday

Treasurer

Terry has lived in the village since 2008 He has recently retired as the Managing Director of a print supplies company, responsible for a large staff team and used to dealing with many suppliers and negotiating deals. With 3 sons and 3 daugters-in-law and ten grandchildren, Terry believes this gives him an insight into what families need and want. Terry’s also a keen supporter of Sheffield United and also enjoys coarse fishing, archery and being out in the garden.

John Owen

Trustee

John has lived in the village for several years, is a regular attender at Germoe Parish Church, as well as a steward of the WOW lunch club and coffee morning. A former draughtsman, recently retired, John is an enthusiastic and loyal volunteer.

 

Steve Polglase

Trustee

A born and bred Cornishman, small holder, local historian and the son of a Tin Miner, Steve is a lifetime village resident, with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the area, its history and heritage.

Steve’s book on the historic World Heritage Mining site in which he has always lived is a long time sell out, but there are plans to revise, re- write and put in on line, a well as in hard back.

Laura Anne Birkett

Trustee

Laura moved to Godolphin Cross from Bristol in 2023 with her husband, daughter and cheeky little whippet! Before that she spent 17 years working in two schools. She enjoys singing opera, playing the piano, sewing and painting. She’s thrilled and grateful to be living in this beautiful place with such a wonderful, close knit community and is keen to get stuck in and help where she can! 

 

Clive Richards

Secretary

Clive moved into the village in 2016 from Cheshire, where he was a company director and Chartered Surveyor handling property management, in particular industrial buildings. Avid bird watcher and ringer, who now volunteers locally on recording bird sightings and for Natural England on the Lizard NNR. Member of the Breage Neighbourhood Plan steering group.  Married to Kay with 1 son Hugh

Sharon Halliday

Publicity

Sharon moved into the village in 2008 with husband Terry, she has 3 sons and 3 daughters-in-law who are all married and 10 grandchildren. She is retired as a PA for a small printing supplies company. She is a bit of a crafter in her spare time (enjoys making beaded jewellery).

Kate Thomas

Trustee

Kate has lived in Godolphin Cross since 2010 with her husband and 3 sons, who attend the local primary and secondary schools in the area.  Kate runs her own businesses from home and prior to setting up her own companies Kate worked in London in various roles as an internal communications/ employee engagement consultant. Kate is a younger Trustee and enjoys running, cooking and attending live music events.

Samantha Mackintosh

Trustee

Sam is originally from the Midlands. She moved to Godolphin Cross in 2011.  A former community psychiatric nurse for the NHS for over 20 years she loves working with people.  Sam enjoys family life, socialising with friends, walking the Cornish coast path, exercise, eating out, reading and art &music.  She has worked in visitor services at the Tate St Ives for over 14 years as well as working for the village preschool running ‘Dinky Dolphins’ a family baby toddler group in the chapel once a week.  Sam is always happy to get stuck in & very much enjoys being part of the community. 

She lives with her husband Darren, son Aulay & their dog & cat in a barn which they are renovating!
